Day 05: 16/04/2008 - Osaka to Kobe to Tokyo
Main reason for Ladies' only carriage is because of "groping" incidents on trains during rushing hours; gals who are being groped should feel proud, at least they are in demand
Osaka Castle (Osaka-jo)
Toyotomi Hideyoshi commenced construction of Osaka Castle, which is one of Japan's most famous castles, and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. Osaka may have become Japan's capital if Tokugawa Ieyasu had not terminated the Toyotomi lineage after Hideyoshi's death and moved his government to distant Edo (Tokyo).
We then made a side-trip to Kobe - the city which suffered massive earthquakes in 1995 that left 5,000 people dead. A memorial was even established to commemorate that solemn day.

We then got ourselves back to Osaka, left with an evening of shopping before hopping on another overnight bus back to Tokyo.
Shinsaibashi area... this clown is very popular in Osaka... same goes to the crab below (called kani in Japanese).
When in Osaka, one has to try "tako-yaki." Tako means octopus, yaki means bbq. However, it's no different from the one we have in Singapore. Singapore is cheaper, at about SGD0.80 each. In Osaka, have to buy minimum 7 balls at SGD1.40 each. Sauce have to apply self-service. So put as much as you like.

Followed by dinner at Yoshinoya again - that's where we could eat cheap, yet still good.

That was a mini lift where my soba set was delivered from the first floor's kitchen up to the second floor
Enroute to Tokyo by overnight bus (9 hours)...
